Camera Quandry

Here is my first choice: Pentax X70 ...$350 Crossover 24 X optical zoom, 12 mega pixels, does video???
Here is my second choice: Nikon Digital SLR D60..TOTALLY awesome camera, has everything I would need...BUT here is the kicker :$700..YIKES!Downfall: too large and has 2 lens to cart around, oh and I don't know how to use one of these kinds of camera yet...yet that is:)
Lastly, but not leastly ( hee hee) my last choice: Nikon coolpix( the Ashton Kutcher camera) Affordable at $200 , pocket camera, 12 megapixels, easy to use point and shoot.

What to do? The plan has changed so many times but I think we are going for the Coolpix( the Pentax is apparently not as good of quality???) and then I will put $50 per month away to save for the digital SLR for my future! Robert thinks that it would be perfectly acceptable for me to have an expensive hobby( seeing as how his cost us ooddles every year:), if I really get into it! I want to take a photography class if I get the FANCY one someday! I really want to learn how to take great portrait quality pictures! My dream...ahhh dreamy dreamy! Here is the deal: I will do it all so I can do all my nephews and nieces flowers and pictures for their weddings! Just dreaming..and kidding:)

Cameras are so fun!! I definitely want to save up for a Nikon D60 or something similar. Photography is so calming. I haven't heard any good reviews on the Nikon coolpix cameras yet, I hear the picture quality is disappointing. However! I am hearing this from people who have digital SLRs and want a basic point and shoot that will deliver the same quality. I haven't used them so I have no say. My brother has a smaller canon point and shoot camera and loves it. Goodluck with your decision!!

I know nothing about cameras or taking pictures, but I do know that the most important thing is to have one and not miss out on stuff! I would say the smaller one would be easier to accomodate but that's just me.

I took a photography class once. They recommended to stick to the point and shoot until you have enough money to get something really nice. All the cameras in the middle I guess aren't too different from the point and shoot in quality. I don't really know much though. good luck.

Tim and I just got a camera from Costco that is a simple point and shoot. It's been nice so far. It was about $130.00 and of course if you don't like it you can take it back to Costco. It's a lumix I think. you should take a look

I love our Lumix, we bought it after Tim did all the research. I'm still learning how to use it. The other day Leina was playing with it and when I got it from her, it was playing a slide-show of all our pics with MUSIC playing. I was so surprised I laughed out loud. I've still got a lot to learn about it!
