On
Saturday Leavi went to a middle school solo and ensemble at Pacific Middle School. She played in a quartet and they played the Johannes Brahms song Hungarian Rhapsody. It was a high difficulty level song but they nailed it! The judge/
helper helped them learn how to tune to each other and critiqued how they didn't bow afterward but she was very impressed by their playing. They played almost perfectly,
Leavi and another girl messed up 2 notes each (which surprisingly I noticed because I have heard the sang a hundred times) All in all they had a great experience. This is preparatory to
competing in High
School competitions. I am so proud of
Leavi for not letting nerves get the best of her.
Because she didn't even flinch when she messed up the 2 notes the judge said that it wouldn't have impacted the end result in a real competition as much! Go
Leavi! I think we will be getting her into flute lessons Freshman year...maybe earlier (
hee!
hee!:)
After the performance I met Robert down the road at
Walmart so he could take
all 4 children to Mt. Hood Meadows to but their half season passes.
Leavi got one this year too!! He said he was impressed at how well she did and how much
Kyzen had improved over even one trip! He does not get a pass this year, maybe next year. The temperature was 20
degrees with whipping winds but because Robert has collected so much gear
all the kids were very warm and enjoyed every minute of the evening. I am so grateful that they all get this chance to have so much fun,
especially Leavi...this will be so good for her to spend time with daddy!

Way to go Leavi!! I'm so proud of you. Keep it up, and just so you know I'm your official accompanist when you get to those high school competitions.
