The Miracle of Birth

At last General Conference, Sunday morning session Elder Eyring talked about seeing the hand of God in all things. He said that in order to seethe hand of God you must have the gift of the Holy Ghost, you must be worthy to have that gift. I am grateful that I have that gift and that it reveals the hand of God to me, personally.

This morning I received a phone call from Quincy, my sister-in-law, that she was in labor and to come when I can. I arrived at her home at 8:30 am to be a gentle witness of the birth of her 4th child, a sweet little girl(Leina Jean Magalei). As I entered her home I could feel the love that God was pouring out to her and her family. Her good friend, Joy, was there. She has such and incredible spirit and such kindness and love for Quincy. She was a key support for my sister, what love was felt by her and all in the home. I brought my daughter, Leavi, with me so that she could be a comfort and watchful eye over Quincy and Wallen's other dear children. They love their cousin and had a great time playing with her while we attended to our loved sister in this beautiful and wondrous occasion.

When I arrived Quincy was laboring quietly in her bedroom. Wallen was so attentive to his beautiful wife. The spirit was heavy and welcomed. After the mid-wives, Kelly and Kelli, arrived they suggested that we take a walk outside to get some air and change the pace a bit. For each contraction Quincy would squat and I could tell each contraction was bringing her closer to this birth. As we got closer to the house I felt the spirit urge me to re-assure her that she new what her body needed and that she was intuitive. It never ceases to amaze me what the Holy Spirit can tell me during a birth, each one is very individual and unique to that mother. I knew right then that she was close to delivery and right then Joy said"I can feel your baby's spirit as you felt mine, when he was being born." She is so amazing!

Upon re-entering the bedroom(where the birthing tub was ready and waiting) Quincy experienced quite a change! 2 more contractions and into the tub because it would soon be time to welcome this loved one into this world. While laboring in the water , right at a most crucial point, Quincy clasped her hands in prayer and asked Our Lord to be with her and help her, the faith was overwhelming in it's purity. God always enters when we invite Him! At this point Jarom and Ava (the 2 oldest children) and Leavi came with quiet reverence. Moments later after 2 1/2 pushes a delightful and gorgeous little baby girl entered this world. I never tire of the feeling that accompanies a new spirit entering this place. If all women, everywhere could see this kind of experience through my eyes they would stand, amazed at the miracles God has for us, the pure love that abounds in the sacred experience of giving birth. Women are blessed above all to receive the gift of being able to call upon the mercies of Christ in the time of labor and feel His love pour out upon them and encircle them in His arms, carry them through.

I have a testimony of seeing the hand of God in all things. I am grateful that He walks with us and blesses us most exceedingly. Most of all I am grateful for the gift with which He has entrusted me. This is a calling received with joy! I record these special feelings In the Name of Jesus Christ Amen.
