GTD... I had a birth last night!

For those of you who don't know, I am a doula (greek word for woman servant to another woman in childbirth). I help women during their labor. My friend, Leah, asked me to be her doula several months ago. I have anticipated this birth for a long time, eagerly! She is LDS and wanted a drug free birth which is not as common as one would think. She went to the hospital last night at 5pm and had her sweet little Kailer at 6:30pm...very fast! It was such a joy to be there and to witness such a fantastic spirit come into this world. I feel so blessed that I have this "calling" to help women have babies. It is as close to Heaven as I can ever imagine getting in this world. Newborn babies are so amazing and angelic! I no longer charge for my services which now cost upwards of $800 in most cases because I feel like the ability to be with laboring mothers is a talent gifted me from my heavenly Father. He has been so gracious to allow me to witness these ,now 53, births! I love knowing that my friends and family feel safe and loved when I am there for them. I love it when I feel inspired(not always) to do or say things that help them! I love it when my moms say " I can't do this anymore when will it end?" and I know they are very close to that end! It is so wonderful to be able to be a part of this experience even though I am no longer having my own babies.
Is this little guy not the cutest? He was precious the moment he was born!

He was so alert and calm ( he fussed now and then when he was being prodded). He only weighs a whopping 6 pounds 4 ounces but he is a strong and healthy little man!
My dream someday, after my children are grown, is to work with unwed teen moms through church services and/or pregnancy clinics...for free , of course! I really feel the spirit and feel so closes to God when I get to do this special work. I am grateful God has offered me this chance and that he trusts me to care for his beloved daughters in their time of travail!I love this work!
