GTD #19 Women's singing group

I am grateful the Lord gives me wonder experiences! There is a group of ladies in my ward that like to get together and sing. They practice and practice until they perform in sacrament meeting or at a Relief Society meeting. I have wanted to join their group for a few years now but could never remember or find the time to go to their practices. I was encouraged this summer about my singing when I broke out of my shell and joined in a singing group of my sisters at out reunion. I don't sing like a song bird or anything and have always had "stage fright " about singing in front of people. Well, the Lord blessed me to finally be able to brake away from my fears. I have gained some ground on this issue. I have the desire and now I have the time...funny how that works! Again, I am no talent...let me make that clear here! But I went today and had a blast! Madelyn Evans, the "leader " we will call her had it at her home and she is also the one who plays the piano. She had asked me at mutual(also the second counselor in YW's) if I would sing alto with her...she is apparently the only alto. I just about had a heart attack because I can barely sing the melody much less sing alto...but I said"If you will teach me I will." She is a very awesome singer and I wish I could sing half as good as her. Anyhow, today I jumped in and sat next to her , so I could hear the part, while we played around with some songs to see what we like to chooses what ones to sing for Christmas. I have trouble with the lower register(is that what it is called?) but I could hit most of the notes and I know with a lot more practice I can do it. Mind you, I don't "hear" the notes...or I can't pick out what a note to sing some of the time, I am a play the note and I can sing it type...not an a capella (spelling?) marvel here...especially when you are talking notes that are not in the melody. I felt like after today I am on cloud nine! I didn't hit every note or sound anywhere near perfect but I sang and I LOVED IT! It makes my heart happy to hear these angelic voices of these women in this group! It is a great blessing and for that I am grateful! The beauty of this experience is that after giving alto a try I really found I like it and would like to continue. I began to hear the notes...barely! The Lord is gracious isn't he?
