Today , while the rest of my family was at mom and dads helping with wood and playing at the beach, Jaydn and I planted our HUGE>>>MONSTER garden , planted 30 strawberry plants, raked, rolled and seeded the "new" back yard, bought 4 Blueberry plants that are five years old and loaded with what will soon be berries , mowed "weeds down the sides of the driveway until the mower died??? and we are too pooped to poop!(that is what my grandma used to say when she was really tired...hee hee) Oh I also finished weeding our raspberry plants which are looking more promising this year...let's hope for some berries! Now we need to get nets and plan to be weeding our gigantic garden for the rest of the summer . There is still so much to get done around here but I loved playing with dirt today..I love the way it smells and being in the sun was such a bonus...I must now go take some Percocet and lay completely still until I drift off into sweet slumber and hope I can move in the morning:)
Oh I must include a list of what we planted:
16 tomato plants of various kinds
peppers assorted including one jalapeno plant for Robert
leeks
broccoli
sugar snap peas
bush beans
a huge row of 4 different kinds of carrots including ones that are solid purple
zucchini
yellow squash
tomatillos
watermelon radishes
beets
corn ( 2 kinds)
lettuce(4 different kinds)
2 kinds of cabbage
swiss chard
I want to plant eggplant and some other weird stuff too maybe even some potatoes?? Who knows?I want Rhubarb plants but I can't find any...any suggestions? Can we grow sweet potatoes or yams around here? I would also like to plant some Kolorabi (spelling?) I want to get some mo0re fruit trees too but must take ti one step at a time. We have a cherry tree, 2 pear trees and 3 apple trees(that I butchered this winter...oops) and 2 plum trees but none of them have given us any fruit yet...we shall see!
I planted oregano, basil, chives, cilantro, rosemary, tarragon, fennel, mint and lemon verbena in my front flower garden too.

This sounds Great! Make sure you don't plant your different tomatoes varieties too close together or they'll cross pollinate each other an you'll end up with a whole bunch of really not very exciting tomatoes that don't really taste very good. We planted two same tomato plants in a copper bin on our front patio (3'x8') sort of. Hoping for a few big meaty tomatoes. Gardening is so fun! We'll have to come up and help you weed!
Oh man I wish I could have come to help. I loved helping my mom garden when I was little.
