Saturday, Kyzen style!

This Saturday, yesterday, Kyzen needed to write a book report(He does NOT like this task...AT ALL!!!) He had a small "fit" we will call it...on the floor of Robert's shop...for an hour. Robert required him to finish reading his book(Horrible Harry and the Sea) and then write out his rough draft report.
After he calmed down a bit he began to write, what I like to call, a really vague description of the book...very general, if you know what I mean. It took him a long time to get this information down on the paper so telling him he needed to add more "details" was not our idea of a good time here. Robert left it at the "vague report" and let him play for the rest of the day( we are going to approach the much needed details on Monday...wish us luck!). He immediately jumped on Kole's bike(way too big for him) and rode around for hours, in the rain and mud. When I came home from a preparedness fair at church that I had participated in, this is how he looked...mud splats and all. The picture really does not do it justice...at all...he is filthy!...but still in good spirits! If there is one great advantage to living out in the country with lots of land this would be it. My kids love to get dirty and play for the entire day outside...rain or shine doesn't matter to them. They made a fort house in the barn loft too the other day and I didn't even see or hear them for 5 hours! Kyzen, especially, loves to be outside. He loves to make ramps to jump his bike off of and build weird
inventions in the shop with Robert's junk( maybe there is a purpose to his "hoarding"huh?). He will skateboard in the driveway all day if I let him. He is trying to master the art of pogo sticking right now, he is up to about 10 hops and down he goes. Jaydn and Kole can hop up and down stairs even thus far....Kyzen is trying to catch up with them. Always trying to keep up with the bigger brothers that boy! His very favorite thing to do outside(this winter anyway) was to go to the road and float wood on the iced over water in the ditches. he dreams about how they are boats and makes up all kinds of names for the "ships". He even tries to float himself on them, which has resulted in a very wet and cold boy when he makes his way back inside...hours later. Aside form his occasional fits over having to do schoolwork, I don't think there is a happier, more self-entertained boy in these parts! That is Bob! Do you love the middle picture with his pant leg in the boot??? No fashion code out her I tell ya!

That is so great!! I love that Kyzen! The totally reminds me of being a kid and riding through mud puddles with my brand new jean jacket on, little did I know mud would end up everywhere! He is such a great kid, I am so glad that they have the land to have fun on! Sounds like they are really taking advantage of it too :o)

oh the reports! Cannon and I have had several dragged out long conversations about book reports. It is so hard to Not just do it. I was proud of Cannon for his last one, it turned out really creative and the book was actually kinda weird (it was supposed to be a mystery) but it had a good message about not judging people by the way they look. He did great and got an awesome grade. He doesn't like to type on the computer so my way of helping is to do the typing. Pretty soon though I need to just stop it and make him do it so he gets faster. Loved the pictures too of Kyzen in the mud!

wow, great, great blog! Thank you so much! Yes, as a kid I would definitely have much more enjoyed a hoard-filled barn, but as a grown up, well, you know, that's a little more challenging. I'm so so glad the kids play like that! I would like to join them! Keep it up. That is so hard with the book report...is it harder on the parents or the kid?

Kyzen you're my kind of boy! I love to make boats and float them any water anywhere. When it would rain hard at the house I grew up in, I would make little rafts and put them in the small stream that would run down the edge of our street! BUT you must study and read if you really want to do well!!!
